Government announces public holidays for 2025

The Pakistan government has announced the official public holidays for 2025, as outlined in a notification from the Cabinet Division.

The list includes holidays for national events, Islamic festivals, and observances for minority communities. Notable holidays in 2025 include Kashmir Day (5th February), Pakistan Day (23rd March), Eid al-Fitr, Easter (for minorities), Labour Day (1st May), Eid al-Adha, Ashura (10th Muharram), Independence Day, Mawlid al-Nabi (Eid Milad-un-Nabi), Quaid-e-Azam Day, and Christmas Day.

The dates for Islamic holidays like Eid al-Fitr, Eid al-Adha, and Ashura are based on the lunar calendar, meaning they vary each year.

Additionally, some holidays, particularly those observed by banks, may only apply to financial institutions and not the general public.

This announcement provides clarity on the holiday schedule for 2025, which will be observed by government offices and key sectors.
