Punjab Announces New Divisions and Districts

The Punjab government announced big changes to the province’s administration. According to a notification by Governor Sardar Saleem Haider, Punjab now has 10 divisions, 41 districts, and 216 tehsils. The Gujarat division, which was created by former Chief Minister Parvez Elahi and later abolished by Shehbaz Sharif, has been restored. Murree and Talagang have also been upgraded to full district status. The new divisions include Lahore, Rawalpindi, Gujarat, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Sargodha, Multan, Sahiwal, Dera Ghazi Khan, and Bahawalpur. The government also plans to adjust electoral constituencies to match these changes. This new setup aims to improve governance and make administration more efficient across Punjab.
